Bayhydrol A 2427 is an aqueous, hydroxyfunctional polyacrylate dispersion. In the formulation of fast-drying, waterborne two-component polyurethane primers and topcoats, as well as one-component coatings. Properties / Applications: Bayhydrol A 2427 is preferably combined with anionic hydrophilically modified polyisocyanates such as Bayhydur XP 2487/1 to formulate transparent and pigmented primers and topcoats. Topcoats based on Bayhydrol A 2427 and Bayhydur XP 2487/1 are characterized by their good chemical resistance properties, especially their resistance to discoloring liquids. Bayhydrol A 2427 can be used to formulate hard and scratch-resistant one-component coatings for the coating of polystyrene and ABS. The coatings provide high ethanol and creme resistances, especially in one-component metallic monocoat systems. A further advantage of Bayhydrol A 2427 is its good resistance to yellowing. Bayhydrol A 2427 can be combined with polyurethane dispersions in one- and two-component formulations. It can also be combined with UV-curing, waterborne binders. In many cases, this increases the hardness of the formulation, thus improving chemical resistance. Compatibility should be tested in advance in each case. On account of their high reactivity, the formulated two-component coatings have a maximum pot life of 4 hours. The use of two-component spray equipment is therefore recommended, particularly in the case of pigmented formulations. Water, water/acetone mixtures, water/alcohol mixtures (in particular with the addition of 0.5 to 5% N,N-dimethylethanolamine) or alkaline cleaning agents are suitable as cleaning formulation for application equipment. As with any product, use of Bayhydrol A 2427 in a given application must be tested (including but not limited to field testing) in advance by the user to determine suitability.
