Product Description: Zinc Oxide XFT-H is a French Process Zinc Oxide made from high purity zinc metal and coated with propionic acid to aid dispersion in rubber. Uses: Zinc Oxide XFT-H is a fine particle size oxide serving as a cure activator/additive in rubber compounding, adhesives and latex applications. Being French Process zinc, it can be used in white and colored rubber articles, where a zinc oxide of good color and high chemical purity is desirable. Its finer particle size and increased surface area contribute to increased activation of cures, especially in latex applications. The high heat transfer ability of ZnO means it is useful in dynamic applications where internal heat buildup is a problem. 10 phr or more of ZnO will transfer heat from the center of a product to the surface where it can be dissipated. Conversely, non-black compounds heat up quicker and more evenly during cure if higher levels of ZnO are used. Useful in non-black articles to protect from UV weathering. It is more effective than TiO2. Use approximately 10% ZnO (not 10 phr) for good UV protection in non-black formulas. Information provided by Akrochem Corporation |
