Thermal Ceramics Unikote S Coating
Categories: Ceramic; Oxide; Aluminum Oxide

Material Notes: Unikote is a refractory coating material designed to provide a protective surface layer over Kaowool and Unifelt® modules. Unikote is available in two grades: M and S. M is for low-to-medium temperature, gas-fired furnaces where contaminants are not severe. S grade is for medium-to-high temperature use up to 2800°F in harsh applications. It is especially effective resisting iron oxide or chemical attack conditions. Unikote coating products generally need to be re-applied over a period of time, as necessary.

Features:

  • Easily applied over weld-on or veneering module hot face
  • Adheres readily to fiber modules during the thermal cycling process
  • Reduces module shrinkage by keeping the hot face surface “tight”
  • Guards the ceramic fiber module against metal oxide, chemical and contaminant attack
  • Protects against velocity damage and erosion from particulate matter
  • Applications:

  • Applied over weld-on or veneering modules’ hot face surface.
  • Used to reduce airborne fiber or other refractory particles.
