Master Bond MB260NT Ethyl-based Cyanoacrylate
Categories: Polymer; Adhesive; Thermoset; Acrylic/Cyanoacrylate Adhesive

Material Notes: Key Features:
  • Non toxic as per ISO 10993-5
  • Low odor low bloom
  • One component, non-mix system
  • Fast setting and curing
Product Description: Master Bond MB260NT is a one part, no mix ethyl-based cyanoacrylate system, which is low odor, low bloom. Importantly, it meets ISO 10993-5 requirements for low toxicity, which is often a requirement for medical device production. Unlike standard cyanoacrylates, MB260NT is specially formulated to lessen the possibility of the material leaving a white, powdery residue on various substrates. This is called blooming or frosting. The latter occurs during the curing process when monomers are released into the air and react with humidity forming the powder. Invariably, it falls back onto the substrate. This low odor, low bloom system greatly decreases the possibility of this taking place. MB260NT is a high strength, low viscosity, rapid curing cyanoacrylate. The fast cure depends upon the humidity. The higher it is, the faster the cure. Typical set up times range between 10-40 seconds. The bond strength is exceptionally high in the shear mode. MB260NT bonds well to a variety of substrates, especially to plastics, rubbers and metals. It has good chemical resistance to sterilants, particularly to EtO and gamma sterilization processes, as well as to many cleaning agents. The service temperature range for this system is -60°F to +250°F. Although many of the applications for MB260NT involve disposable type medical devices, it also can be utilized with reusable ones depending upon the service conditions.

Product Advantages:

  • Rapid curing at room temperature; usually sets up within 1 minute
  • No heating or mixing
  • Contact pressure usually sufficient for fixturing
  • Bonds well to a wide variety of substrates
  • Low odor, low bloom
  • Meets ISO 10993-5 requirements for low toxicity
  • Superb resistance to EtO and gamma sterilization
