Schwarzkopf Plansee PM 2000 Grain Class 4 ODS Iron Alloy  (discontinued **)
Categories: Metal; Ferrous Metal; Metal Matrix Composite

Material Notes: The PLANSEE sophisticated PM 2000 is a highly oxidation resistant and extremely creep resistant ferritic iron-chromium based alloy. Homogeneous dispersion strengthening with nano sized Y2O3 particles in combination with recrystallized coarse grained microstructure gives PM 2000 highest hot strength and creep strength up to 1350°C. Due to its high content of Aluminium and Chromium, PM2000 forms a dense and adherent Al2O3 scale when used at high temperatures under oxidizing atmospheres. This oxide scale is highly resistant to high-speed gas flows up to 1300°C.

Advantages of PM 2000:

  • creep resistance up to 1350 °C
  • high hot strength up to 1300°C
  • excellent oxidation and hot corrosion resistance
  • highly resistant against coking and carburization compared to NiCr alloys
  • due to its lower density, components made from PM 2000 are lighter than those made from Ni base materials
  • high stability against high-speed gas flows at temperatures up to 1300 °C
  • good machinability with normal tooling
Typical fields of application for PM 2000:
  • thermocouple sleeves for high temperatures
  • burner nozzles
  • charge carriers for parts for high temperature furnace construction
  • pull rod assemblies for high temperature testing
  • stirrers for the glass industry
  • honey comb structures for aerospace
  • components for the chemical plant construction
  • combustion parts for engines
