Thermal Ceramics RPC™ 2300-W Wet Felt
Categories: Ceramic; Oxide; Silicon Oxide

Material Notes: Wet Felt is a high-alumina, ceramic fiber material made by a vacuum forming process that produces a unique insulating process capable of withstanding 2300°F (1260°C). Bonded with our standard bond, it has virtually unlimited uses. It is shipped wet in sheets, rolled or flat, and sealed in protective plastic bags. Standard sizes are 48 x 36 x 1/8 to 1" (1200 x 900 x 3.125 to 25mm) thick.

Features:

  • Non-self sticking and can be joined by air-set mortar
  • Drying time is 24 to 48 hours
  • Maintains wet shape and characteristics of prefired material after drying
  • Random fiber orientation and a tightly knit structure
  • Colloidal silica is disbursed uniformly throughout the entire piece and does not drain out
  • Does not require costly dryers, tooling or machining to conform to size requirements
  • Applications:

  • Wrapping exhaust manifolds in marine engines
  • Wrapping fuel injector nozzles in solid fuel fired kilns
  • Lining combustion duct work in incinerators and boilers
  • Lining hot tuyers in upcomers of blast furnaces
  • Hand packed to protect the anchor of an element hanger module
