Material Notes: Titanium Aluminide Ti3Al based alloy. Ti-25Al-17Nb-1Mo refers to the atomic percentage composition. The niobium addition of over > 15 atom%, and therefore formation of the O phase, improves toughness versus Ti3Al and lower Nb compositions, while the molybdenum addition improves the elevated temperature strength. Intermetallic aluminides have good mechanical properties and stability to be used in high temperature environments. A thin protective Al2O3 coating forms to provide oxidative stability.
